Tuesday in Germany

 We got pictures by the castle ruins.  Sadly the castles had just closed before we got there.  It was cool to see though.  They were built in the 1200's.

We had dinner at this restaurant.  It was delicious Italian food and authentic as the owner/cook (husband and wife) are from Italy.  The kids once again had fun playing.  A funny story here Lance prayed for our meal while the kids were still praying.  He referred to himself as Papa and thanked God that his friends could come and visit. I think we were all a little tired.

 This church in Trier was built in 900 AD.  Amazing!

 It blows my mind that these churches were so intricately built but were also so well built that they are still around.

 This is one of the Roman ruins in Trier.  Trier is actually the oldest known settlement in what is now Germany with Roman influence at its origins.

 We didn't go to the colosseum because it was more money but I was able to get a couple of pictures from the outside.

 That afternoon the kids had fun playing in the water.

 They were storming the castle!  The castle was closed but we were at least able to see the gates and inside the grounds. As with many of the castles in the area, the French attacked these as well.

 We decided to walk around and play before dinner.  Micah got a little muddy throwing the rocks into the river.

They were all blowing the dandelions and loving it.

 We found another park to play in.  It was a theme for this trip.  This was on our way to the palace in Trier.

 And here is the palace.  There is a basilica right behind this palace that was built in 300BC!  We didn't get a picture for some reason.

 So amazing.

 The black marble  decorated the whole church. It was beautiful.

 This church claims to have the robe from Jesus at the base of the cross mentioned in John 19 which was said o have no seams, so the soldiers cast lots for it instead of dividing it.

 This pillar was part of the original structure but had fallen.  Micah thought it was so cool.

A family picture in front of the castle ruins before dinner.  We truly have had a great vacation and have loved seeing family as well as all these old sites. Micah had trouble adjusting to the eating schedule but overall did well.  he was more clingy but did much better when he could nap well.  Elli loved seeing the castles and being with her cousins. She adjusted well though she didn't really like the food all that well.
